Congratulations to Palash Chandra Das on Successfully Passing His Ph.D. Proposal Defense!
We are delighted to announce that Palash Chandra Das successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation proposal on October 9, 2026, marking an important milestone in his doctoral journey!
Palash's dissertation, titled "DYNAMIC-RESILIENCE: Spatiotemporal Human Mobility Dynamics for Urban Disaster Resilience Assessment," explores how human mobility dynamics can advance our understanding and assessment of urban disaster resilience. By integrating mobile phone location data, built-environment information, and weather observations, his research investigates dynamic population patterns, heat exposure variability, and post-disaster business recovery. This work aims to develop more comprehensive, data-driven approaches to assessing urban resilience and supporting disaster preparedness and recovery planning.
We sincerely thank his dissertation committee members, Dr. Heng Cai (Chair), Dr. Lei Zou, Dr. Yangyang Xu, and Dr. Andrew Klein, for their valuable guidance, insightful feedback, and continued support throughout this important milestone.
Congratulations again, Palash! We look forward to seeing your continued progress and the meaningful contributions your research will bring to urban resilience and disaster science. Gig 'em!
