Congratulations to Hao Tian on Successfully Passing His Ph.D. Dissertation Proposal Defense!
Congratulations to Hao Tian from the CAI Lab on successfully defending his dissertation proposal on October 14, 2026, marking his advancement to Ph.D. candidacy!
Hao's dissertation, titled "Integrating Social and Seismic Sensing: Multi-Source Insights into Urban Human Dynamics," explores how emerging sensing technologies and multimodal geospatial data can advance our understanding of when, where, and how people conduct activities in urban environments. By integrating human mobility data, seismic observations, environmental information, and geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), his research develops new approaches to observing, characterizing, and representing urban human dynamics across different spatial and temporal scales.
We sincerely thank his dissertation committee members, Dr. Heng Cai (Chair), Dr. Lei Zou, Dr. Oliver Frauenfeld, Dr. Xiaowei Chen, and Dr. Galen Newman, for their valuable guidance, insightful feedback, and continued support throughout this important milestone.
Congratulations again, Hao! We look forward to seeing your continued progress and the contributions your research will bring to urban science, geographic information science, and GeoAI.
Gig 'em!
